'WHAT ARE WE? \nA place of worship, welcome and hospitality. Not just a church and one of the most beautiful and historically significant buildings in the world - but also a major visitor attraction, museum, library, shop, restaurant and school. \n\nWHO ARE WE? \nWe have more than 750 magnificent volunteers and a rich selection of diverse and interesting roles in both specialist and non-specialist areas. You can support us in customer service, marketing, fundraising, education, flower arranging, textile conservation, listening, bell ringing, Sunday serving, administration and reception. There are those who support with governance, conservation, the food bank, woodlands and riverbanks, our library and the Open Treasure museum with its internationally important collections. \n\nKITEMARK:\nWe have been awarded the County Durham Kitemark in volunteering which is a standard of best practice awarded to organisations that recognise the value of recruiting and retaining volunteers and try to overcome barriers to volunteering. It also shows that volunteers receive a high quality, positive volunteering experience. We welcome those from all nationalities, religions, beliefs, cultures and backgrounds.\n\nJOIN US!\nCome and join our incredible, supportive volunteer and Cathedral community. Be part of 1,000 years of history, absorb yourself in local heritage and culture and help to support the future sustainability of your Cathedral. So whether you\'re looking for something to fill your time, a way of meeting new people, an opportunity to learn new things, use your skills or speak with experience in that all-important job interview - we\'d love to hear from you - so that we can find you a role that suits your needs and talents. \n\nVOLUNTEERING AND COVID-19\nDue to COVID-19 restrictions, many volunteer roles remain suspended and some may change in the future. It will also take us a little longer to welcome you into our volunteer community. The safety and wellbeing of our volunteers is of paramount importance. Please do still enquire about opportunities and we can keep in touch and do some of the paperwork, so that you are ready to start as soon as the situation allows. \n',
