Volunteering at Durham World Heritage Site Visitor Centre will give you the opportunity to welcome visitors from all around the World!
You will be helping to answer enquiries from the public about the site and what is happening around and about.
If you are interested in gaining customer service experience, and finding out more about history and heritage, then this may be the role for you.
Saying Welcome! Greeting members of the public that come into the World Heritage Site Visitor centre (WHSVC)
Can you help? Asking questions to find out if they can help the customer with their visit. Answering those questions if they are able to do so or seeking help from another member of staff.
Developing their knowledge about Durham and the World Heritage Site
Helping to keep the centre presentable
Ensuring that they adhere to the WHSVC policies and procedures.
Training will be given, but we would welcome applications from people who are keen to help people and help us deliver our award-winning standard of customer service. For this role a volunteer would need to be willing to develop a knowledge of Durham and local history which they would be willing to share with our visitors.

Volunteers usually work to a rota where a shift is three hours during daytime hours, the Visitor Centre is fully accessible.
