Move Mates is a walking buddy project. We pair people who struggle to get out on their own, with one of our wonderful volunteers, for a regular walk.
Move Mates is for adults of all ages and can help people with short-term goals such as building confidence to get to new places, or with longer-term support to improve physical, mental, and emotional health outcomes.
We need volunteers to deliver our post. This role is perfect for those who have sporadic work patterns or hobbies and may not feel they can commit to more regular volunteering. Our volunteers deliver mail to beneficiaries and volunteers using peoplepower (walk, run, cycle), giving you a great reason to get out and move whilst providing practical support.
You need to be reliable and honest.
You need to be able to walk, run or cycle, we aim to deliver all our mail via human powered movement.
Across County Durham but more specifically wider Durham City (Out to Pity Me/Arnison to Bowburn, Neville's Cross/Langley Moor) and then further out into the Valleys along the lines Broompark, Bearpark, Esh etc.
You would need to complete 1 online training module: online module: "Move the Masses Volunteer Essentials" which you'll be directed to once you sign up on our website: www.movemates.org.uk
You will help people in the community where you live, helping build a more connected wider community around you.
