Front of house volunteers at REfUSE Café play an exciting and vital role at the heart of everything we do.
They’re the friendly faces that welcome every guest, create a warm and inclusive atmosphere, and help make our café a place where everyone feels at home.
From taking orders and serving delicious rescued food to chatting with customers and sharing our mission to reduce waste and build community, front of house volunteers bring energy, kindness, and connection to every shift.
No two days are the same — it’s a dynamic role full of laughter, teamwork, and the joy of seeing people come together over great food for a great cause.
Good team working skills to ensure workload is equally shared among all volunteers.
Good customer service interactions to ensure clear, polite and friendly communication.
Ability to understand customer requests and follow them up.
Cleaning to a high standard in variety of areas including sweeping, tables surfaces, toilets etc as required
Manual dexterity needed to carry customer orders to their tables and carry dirty dishes etc back to kitchen.
Some physical lifting will be required, for example tables, chairs, signs etc
This role does not require any past experience. You will learn as you go. Duties may include: delivering food and drinks to customers, making hot drinks and speciality coffees, serving customers using the till and communicating accurately what we do and how the café operates.
The café is open from 9am to 3pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
Morning and afternoon shifts are available. Arrangements can be made around availability.
Training packages available including Food Hygiene Level 2, Allergen Awareness and Safeguarding.
Other on-the-job training is provided on shift.
Volunteers are able to enjoy one drink, one speciality coffee and one meal per shift.
