Do you want to make a real difference in your community? As a Community Support & Guidance Volunteer, you’ll be there when local people need a helping hand - listening, guiding, and helping them find the right support so they can take back control of their lives

Responsibilities

No two days will be the same! As part of our Information, Advice & Guidance service, you might:
• Talk with clients in person or over the phone to understand their needs.
• Use our information systems to find the best support and solutions.
• Explain options clearly so clients can make informed decisions.
• Help with forms, benefit claims, and assessments.
• Keep accurate records of the support provided.
• Identify common issues to feed into our research and campaigning work.

Skills & Qualities

You don’t need any previous experience - we’ll give you all the training and support you need. We’re looking for someone who is:
• Friendly, approachable, and non-judgemental.
• A good listener who can gather information with patience and empathy.
• Confident with reading, writing, and basic maths
• Comfortable using IT for online research, case recording, and virtual learning.
• Aligned with our values on equality, diversity, and inclusion.

When & Where?

We ask for a commitment of 7–14 hours per week for around 18 months, but we’ll work with you to find a schedule that fits.
We will invest in your development with training, mentoring,
and real-life experience to build your confidence, skills, and future opportunities.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed for agreed trips to your local office or training sessions.
