Help people in your community find the support they need.
Do you enjoy meeting people, building relationships and making a difference in your local community?
County Durham Advice & Guidance Service is looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to help raise awareness of our service and connect local people with information, advice and support.
Many people experience challenges with money, benefits, housing, energy costs and other everyday issues but may not know where to turn. As a Community Engagement Volunteer, you’ll help more people discover the support available and understand how to access it.

Friendly, approachable and welcoming.
Comfortable talking to people from different backgrounds.
A good communicator who can explain information clearly.
Interested in supporting local people and communities.
Respectful, inclusive and non-judgemental.
Reliable and happy to work independently or as part of a team.
We’ll discuss your availability and the opportunities available in your area.
The role may involve attending community events, visiting local venues or supporting planned outreach activities. Some opportunities may be occasional, while others may require a more regular commitment.
You’ll receive an introduction to our service, information about the support we offer and guidance on communicating with members of the public. You’ll also have support from the team to help you feel confident in your role.
What will you gain?
The opportunity to make a positive difference in your community.
Experience in community engagement, communication and outreach.
