By joining our Visitor Operations Team as a Ticketing and Box Office Volunteer, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a warm and seamless visitor experience. This volunteer role offers the opportunity to engage with visitors in a friendly and informative manner, through the efficient sale and processing of Tickets and Memberships.

We are passionate about creating an accessible and enjoyable visitor experience – from the moment that our visitors step into our venues. Responsibilities


- Assist in the sale of Ticket Sales and Membership Schemes
- Stay knowledgeable and up to date about The Auckland Project’s visitor attractions and Ticketing offers
- Provide a warm and friendly greeting to our visitors, ensuring approachability
- Answering our visitor queries, provide relevant information and assist with wayfinding
- Assist visitor safety and enjoyment, adhering to TAP’s Health and Safety guidelines
- Assist in visitor evacuation during emergency situations

Skills & Qualities

No previous Ticketing / Box Office experience or qualifications are required for this fantastic opportunity to acquire new skills, however, we believe this role is perfect for individuals who:

• Are 18 years or older
• Confident and/ or willing to use Ticketing EPOS (tills)
• Possess excellent communication skills, and can initiate conversations with a diverse range of individuals
• Radiate a welcoming, approachable and helpful demeanour
• Are proactive with a positive nature, an interest in providing an excellent visitor experience
• Enthusiastic and willing to learn about our Retail and Ticketing Offer
• Reliable, well-presented, friendly and polite
Remain calm under pressure, particularly at busy periods
• Comfortable collaborating as part of a team
• Are willing and able to undertake the activity both independently and with supervision

When & Where?

We seek individuals who thrive on variety and embrace a flexible approach. This role offers the opportunity for individuals to volunteer across various venue locations, making each shift unique.

Ideally, we prefer volunteers who can commit to at least a weekly shift – although we are flexible and open to discussing your availability.

Our Visitor Attractions are open Wed – Sunday (including Bank Holiday Mondays), ensuring ample opportunities to get involved and help make a difference.

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

Don’t worry we’ve got you, with a warm welcome and some great training:

Begin your journey as a Ticketing and Box Office volunteer with a warm welcome session, followed by an informative introduction. Our fantastic Visitor Operations Team members will serve as your guides, assisting you in navigating the ins and outs of our Ticketing and Box Office system as well as ensuring your well-being.

And wait, there’s more – we have bespoke ticketing and box office training and briefing notes, designed to make getting up to speed a breeze. We are all about setting you up for success on this journey

Other Information

Volunteers are issued with an annual pass to our visitor attractions within Bishop Auckland. Regrettably we can not reimburse travel expenses at this time.
