New College Durham is a high performing Further and Higher Education college both educationally and financially with strong building blocks in place for future development. Following the appointment of a new Executive Leadership Team and Chair of Governors in July 2020, the College entered an exciting period of change which has presented many opportunities. The work of the College is more important now than ever before. Our strategic focus is on identifying the gaps and demands in the local employment market, designing courses to meet those demands, and equipping individuals with the skills employers need, enabling our students to enter the world of work with rewarding jobs.

Activities
In order to achieve our aims we deliver first class teaching and learning, in a bright and modern environment with state of the art facilities, Constantly reacting to the changes in educational priorities, the College's Strategic Plan seeks to put it at the forefront of delivery in the region.

New College Durham has been awarded the licence to operate as the North East Institute of Technology, one of only 12 in the country. As an IoT, New College Durham will specialise in delivering higher technical education (at Level 4 and 5) with a focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects, such as engineering, digital and construction.

In addition, the College is continues to deliver T Levels, and align provision to reflect qualification reforms and meet local skills needs.

New College Durham will provide students with a clear route to technical employment, and employers with a skilled workforce.

Alongside other Further Education Courses including A Levels and a wide range of Apprenticeships, New College Durham also offers Higher Education and has Foundation Degree awarding powers.
