Move Mates is a walking buddy project. We pair people who struggle to get out on their own, with one of our wonderful volunteers, for a regular walk.
Move Mates is for adults of all ages and can help people with short-term goals such as building confidence to get to new places, or with longer-term support to improve physical, mental, and emotional health outcomes.
We need volunteer Wellbeing Walk Leaders. These volunteers facilitate conversation and provide confidence and moral support amongst walk participants. They allow isolated people to get moving in a social setting and provide a relaxed, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
You need compassion, good communication and be empathetic to people from all walks of life.
Good communication, organisational and leadership skills.
90 minutes per month (after training).
3 online modules depending on what role you volunteer for:
1. "Move the Masses Volunteer Essentials"
2. "Move Mate Volunteer Training"
3. "Move the Masses Wellbeing Walk Leader Training."
You will help people in the community where you live, helping build a more connected wider community around you.
