Volunteer to set up community garden shop and run community events

Ferryhill, Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor, Sedgefield, Newton Aycliffe, Volunteering from Home

Great Aycliffe Garden Guild is and exciting new project that is just being set up. The plan is to run a shop selling gardening products to the local community. We are are also setting up a community room where the group will hold community events to encourage residents to engage in gardening and learn how to do so in a more environmentally sustainable way. We are looking for volunteers to support the project and get involved in a variety of areas of the project

Responsibilities

We are looking for people to join the small committee that has been set up. We are very much in the planning stages of the project. We are looking for people to support in a variety of areas including applying for grant funding, completion of risk assessments and health and safety, help with promoting the group on social media, planning the project and implementation.

Skills & Qualities

We would welcome support from anyone who would like to get involved, we are looking for people with enthusiasm to make the project a success. If people were to have experience of project planning, engaging with the community, health and safety knowledge and social media that would be great, but not essential.

When & Where?

The project will run from Clarence Chare Allotments in Newton Aycliffe. At present the members of the committee meet on an ad hoc basis on an evening. Volunteers would also work from home on aspects of the project at a time to suit them.

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

All volunteers will undergo relevant training. The committee support each other with specific aspects of the project.

Volunteer Benefits

This is a chance to get involved in a relatively new project, to be able to contribute and shape something from the outset that will be a great new community space. it is a great way to get more involved in the community and learn lots of new skills and meet new people.
