Volunteer Drivers in Durham and Darlington Area

We need local drivers to transport patients to enable them to attend appointments or groups within our trust.


Responsibilities

Collecting patients and possibly family members from their home address, or a hospital address, and transporting them to appointments or groups and then returning them home after the appointment.

Skills & Qualities

You will need to be patient and understanding, and have a friendly personality.

When & Where?

Durham area, plus perhaps some out of area opportunities occasionally; within the geographical area of Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.

Flexible hours between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday, no weekends

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

Travel expenses paid 45p per mile and you will receive an additional 5p per mile when you have a patient in your car.

Volunteer Benefits

Patient facing role, giving experience with an NHS mental health and learning disability trust.
Support given from our Voluntary Services Team.

Other Information

We will require 2 references from people you are not related to
We complete a fully enhanced adult and child DBS and place you on the DBS update service
You must live or work locally
There are 11 modules of training to be completed; but help is available to complete these modules
