Volunteer Driver

Crook/Willington

We seek experienced car drivers to support Leonard Cheshire residents to attend appointments, pre-planned activities, shopping trips and other ad hoc journeys required.

Responsibilities

• Driving and accompanying people who use our services on days out and trips.
• Supporting people to access leisure and social activities in their local community.
• Driving people to medical appointments in an adapted vehicle.

Skills & Qualities

Good timekeeping skills
A good understanding of safety issues
Good communication skills
Understanding of and empathy with disabled people.
Helpful and caring manner with a friendly disposition.
Commitment and flexibility in being available at mutually agreed times.
Hold a current driving licence.
To be dependable, reliable and trustworthy.
Professional attitude and ability to maintain confidentiality.


When & Where?

Mostly around County Durham but may go further for day trips out.

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

Full training
Reimbursement of out of pocket expenses
The chance to make a difference and give back to the community.
Full MiDAS training will be provided
