Volunteer Car Driver

Ferryhill, Weardale, Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor, Sedgefield, Peterlee, Seaham, Consett, Crook/Willington, Chester le Street, Teesdale, Newton Aycliffe, Stanley, Durham City

To transport people with visual Impairment to hospital appointments, shopping, social activities, events, support groups and training sessions throughout County Durham. The Visually Impaired have suffered greatly throughout the COVID 19 pandemic. Loneliness, isolation, anxiety and lack of confidence going into the community has resulted in a demand for volunteer car drivers.

Responsibilities
Skills & Qualities

Enhanced DBS check will be carried out. Evidence of vehicle insurance, MOT and road tax along with driving license.

When & Where?

Throughout County Durham

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

Sighted Guide training will be given as well as Safeguarding procedures. Mileage of 45p per mile and carparking charges will be available.
