Volunteer Butterwick Mascot Performer

Do you have a theatrical side and like to have fun? – we’re looking for volunteers (ideally 2) that can help us by dressing up and transforming into ‘Bee’ – our lovely mascot.

Our Mascot Performer plays a key role in representing the organization at public events, campaigns, and community outreach activities. This person wears the charity’s mascot costume to engage audiences, spread awareness, and create memorable, positive interactions that support the Butterwick Hospice mission.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

- Event Participation: Appear at fundraising events, community gatherings, school visits, charity runs, and promotional activities as the official mascot.
- Audience Engagement: Interact warmly with children, adults, and supporters through gestures, dancing, friendly movements, and non-verbal communication.
- Brand Representation: Uphold the charity’s values and maintain a positive, family-friendly presence at all times.
- Photo Opportunities: Pose for photos with attendees to help boost visibility and engagement on social media and promotional materials

- Reliable, punctual, and professional.

Additional Requirements:

Must meet the height range required for the safe operation of the mascot costume (approx. 5’9″ or above, due to fixed costume dimensions.
A D.B.S. (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required for this role, as will completion of on-line training modules.

When & Where?

When and where will we need Bee ?

We’ll need the services of ‘Bee’ on an adhoc basis and, as we plan our activities at the beginning of the year- you will normally know well in advance when an appearance is needed. Locations will vary within the Teesside and County Durham area’s.
