Teesdale

To be an active volunteer Trustee being responsible for the governance and finances of the charity alongside your trustee colleagues as part of our Trustee Board.

Responsibilities

Attending meetings (approx 5 each year).
Making decisions and participating fully in discussions to ensure that the charity runs smoothly, efficiently and effectively.
Supporting the Strategic Manager with the implementation of decisions as appropriate.
Attending and participating in any task groups or smaller task oriented committees as required according to your skill set.
Reading and considering all papers, briefings and spreadsheets presented by the Strategic Manager or other members of the staff team.


Skills & Qualities

We are specifically looking for trustees who have a legal background, a communications or social media background, or who have a business planning or a small business development background.
We are also interested in anyone who is interested in services for older, frail, or lonely and isolated people who live in the Teesdale community.

When & Where?

We rent a small office in Barnard Castle and usually trustee meetings are held in this building (town hall).
From time to time they may be held in a village hall in Teesdale.
Trustee meetings are usually on a Thursday during the daytime.
Board meetings are usually held from 1.30 - 3.30 each quarter, with an additional trustee away day.
Task groups, away days or smaller committees may be held on other days.
We do not have an AGM but sometimes hold a volunteer celebration event.

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

Expenses offered at 45 pence per mile.
As we are Gift Aid registered there is an opportunity to claim expenses and then gift back.
Support can be offered from the Strategic Manager, the Chair of trustees, or from other experienced trustees.
