Treasurer

Weardale

Frosterley Village Hall or The Frosterley Institute (it's original name) was opened in 1909 and was the end result of the local quarrymen, from the late 1890's, donating 1p per week towards developing a building originally to be a literary institute. The quarry owners gave their contributions also and the land was donated by the local squire. The quarrymen also, at the end of their working day, and with help from local farmers etc, built the building themselves.
The hall now offers a wide range of activities for local residents of all ages and interests including Arts and craft groups, Exercise classes, Sports, WI, Coffee Mornings, Breakfast Church, Fayres and live bands.
We have recently refurbished an unused area downstairs in the hall, funded by various funding applications and this opened in July 2021. It has a large area with bi-folding patio doors, a kitchen, lounge, disabled toilet, office and disabled access. This compliments our other areas of the hall including snooker/pool room, large upstairs hall with kitchen area, stage and licensed bar.
