The Weardale Railway is an exciting opportunity to bring train travel back to the dale, a heritage line requiring maintenance and upkeep. Volunteers patrolling the track on a regular basis will ensure that we are proactive in our maintenance planning.
Initial training
Patrolling the line
Identification of hazards and faults relating to the track and infrastructure
Taking photographic evidence
Reporting of faults
Uploading to HOPS (reporting system)
Liaising with other members of the Track team
Is over 18
Is a punctual time keeper
Is physically fit
Willing to undertake training and attend briefings
Is able to follow instructions
Is Health & Safety Conscious
Can be good team player
Can be a good communicator
Has the ability to be non-judgemental and acknowledge an individual's right to space
Ideally is First aid trained (but this is desirable not a requirement
Weardale Railway Track
You will be asked to provide and wear appropriate clothing and footwear, role/activity dependent. We will provide you with a High Visibility Vest and train you in Personal Track Safety. The Auckland Project is unable to reimburse travel expenses.
