Purpose of the role: We are looking for a reliable, dedicated and competent volunteer to assist with our busy tearoom. You will be assisting like-minded women in a busy and growing environment, .you will be contributing your time to assuring that the tearoom runs to an exceptional standard while creating a comfortable and welcoming space for our customers.

Responsibilities

You will be working together with a small team but are required to use your own initiative and to help where you are needed.
Main tasks will include being at front of house welcoming customers and taking their orders. You will need to write down their orders and present this to the kitchen staff who will then prepare the food.
You will then be required to assist the kitchen staff to wait on the customers and present them with their orders.
You will be required to help maintain the tearooms cleanliness by wiping down tables and clearing them ready for the next set of customers. You will also be required to assure that the store is neat and easily accessible and will be responsible for taking payments either by the till or via the card reader. (Training will be provide if necessary)
At the end of the working day you will be expected to assist the remaining staff to assure that the tearoom is tidy and presentable for the next working day. This may include helping out in the kitchen to wash dishes, put dishes away and assure that our hygiene requirements are met.

Our customers are often of the elderly community, and we expect front of staff to be kind, welcoming and compassionate. Some of our other customers are just for women clients and many customers find our tearoom to be a safe environment to meet socially. We are passionate about maintaining this safe and comforting environment for everyone and expect that all volunteers and staff continue to provide high level customer service skills.

Skills & Qualities

• Customer service skills (formal qualifications of previous experience)
• Hospitality and catering experience or a passion for hospitality and catering
• Previous barista experience (not mandatory)
• Communications skills
• Health and hygiene understanding or qualification.
• Maths at GCSE level or equivalent
• English at GCSE or equivalent
• Kind and welcoming
• Helpful
• An initiative to work on own when needed.
• Food handling and hygiene certificate
• Passionate and enthusiastic
• Can work as part of a team

You will be supported by the kitchen staff and will report to… you will be supported and receive ongoing training that is relevant to your needs and role.

We will provide you with adequate training or assure that your training needs are met. You will meet new people daily and will also meet regulars who you will score to know and recognise.

Other Information

We require a up to date curriculum vitiate and a covering letter detailing your reasons for wanting the role or a simple phone call to the just for women’s centre to talk with a member of staff regarding the position.

Applicants will have an informal chat with staff regarding the role and will subsequently discuss next steps.

There are no obligations to remain however I reasonable amount of time for notice is required.
