We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic volunteer to assist in preparing and serving refreshments at Café JJ. This role involves supporting adults with learning disabilities in their café tasks, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to contribute to the welcoming environment of the cafe.
• Support and encourage adults with learning disabilities in their café duties, providing guidance and patience to help them develop skills and confidence.
• Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, including tea, coffee, and soft beverages.
• Ensure a clean and tidy serving area.
• Engage with customers in a warm and welcoming manner, offering excellent service in a busy hospitality setting.
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
• Work as part of a team to create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
• No prior experience necessary — training will be provided and support given.
• Patience, empathy, and understanding when supporting adults with learning disabilities.
• Friendly and approachable attitude with good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene is an advantage but not essential.
• Willingness to learn and follow café procedures.

• We request all volunteers undertake Level 1 Safeguarding Adults training course. This can be completed online and will take no more than 2 hours.
• Additional training may be offered including food hygiene, first aid, food allergens. Volunteers can also request training they feel would benefit them in carrying out their duties.
