The North Pennines National Landscape team are looking to recruit new volunteers to help record and conserve historical mine sites across the North Pennines National Landscape and UNESCO Global Geopark.
As part of the Land of Lead and Silver project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England, the team are working to record and conserve lead mining sites across the area.
We have a range of activities held throughout the year which record and conserve some of our heritage sites.
-Mine site maintenance
-Heritage site recording
-Photogrammetry processing
-Access improvements
No skills or experience are needed, just enthusiasm. Most events are outdoors so a tolerance to changing weather is useful.
Various dates and sites across the North Pennines National Landscape.
All training will be provided by either one of our team or a heritage contractor.
- Meet like-minded people with similar interests
- Help play a role in preserving the area’s lead mining heritage
- Explore lead mining sites within the North Pennines
Sites can be remote, with uneven ground. No transport is provided.
Please see other opportunities that are indoor based such as research projects and archiving.
