To support our experienced youth workers in delivering Multi-sports programme on Woodhouse Close estate.
Duties may involve supervising young people playing sports, helping to provide snacks, clearing, and tidying our communal areas or kitchen.
Multi-sports sessions are held at Auckland Youth and Community Centre, Walker Drive, Woodhouse Close, DL14 6QL on a Monday evening:
• 5:30pm - 6:30pm for 8-11 year olds.
• 6:30pm - 7:30pm for 11+ year olds.
Volunteers are needed in the centre 15 minutes before and after a session for setup and clear up/Evaluation time, as part of the delivery team.
In these sessions we provide a safe, friendly, and warm space for young people aged 8+ to play sports, exercise and socialise on an evening.
As a volunteer in our multi-sports sessions your evening could be as varied as the young people we support.
You might be the person that teaches a 9-year-old how to kick a ball, helps a 15 year old to learn how to communicate their feelings effectively or clears up after snack time.
We are flexible in terms of the role you may play in our centre, if you’ve got a skill, hobby, or interest that you’d like to share with the children and young people who attend our sessions we’d love to hear more about it, and we may be able to build a role around you.
We are committed to equality and diversity, and we are happy to modify roles and provide reasonable adjustments to ensure that volunteering is accessible to everyone.
Auckland Youth and Community Centre has a commitment to safeguarding and protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults and we require all volunteers to commit to our culture of safeguarding.
No experience is needed for this role.

• Willingness to undergo a DBS check.
• Keen to see young people fulfil their potential.
• Resilience and can-do attitude.
• Interest in sport and physical activity.
• Problem solving skills.
• Being a good listener.

AYCC will reimburse any reasonable out of pocket expenses incurred by volunteers in support of the centre’s activities.
This role could be a good stepping stone for ongoing training in food safety, youth working. The Youth Sector has a variety of small conferences and meetings which volunteers may be invited to. Costs would be covered by AYCC for any training offered.
This role is a great way to experience working with a wide variety of young people before embarking in a career as a teacher, youth worker or sports coach.
Supporting young people is incredibly rewarding, you could get the buzz of influencing young lives for the better and helping to create a safe environment for young people to let off steam.
During a sessions we provide a snack for young people and volunteers are welcome to enjoy a snack with our young people or at the end of the session.
Become part of an established team, youth work is enjoyable, and no two days are the same.
You would have the support of a dedicated volunteer coordinator to ensure you feel happy, supported and have opportunities for training and development which are tailored to you as an individual.
