We require an experienced minibus driver to train as a MIDAS trainer to train our volunteer minibus drivers to MIDAS standards. The training for the trainer is approximately 2 days. Drivers with HGV and PSV experience are also welcome.
Training our volunteer drivers to MIDAS standard on a regular rolling programme.
Training delivered to our volunteer drivers consists of both classroom based learning and practical driving. We would expect to deliver this no more than 4 times a year.
You will also be expected to act as a volunteer driver and drive the buses for community groups and our shopping clubs. Your availability for this is at your own discretion and convenience.
A driving licence that covers you to drive a minibus.
Be over 21 years of age.
Have some experience of driving a minibus, PSV or HGV
Safety conscious and reliable.
Desirable but not essential – experience in delivering training

We would prefer a local person, but the payment of travel expenses will be considered on an individual basis.
DBS not required for this role. Your MIDAS Trainer training will be sourced and funded by Shildon Community Bus
Your MIDAS Trainers certificate is a valuable asset when applying for work.
As a driver and trainer you may visit attractions and beauty spots in County Durham and the surrounding area.
Occasionally two buses cover the same vent and you will have an opportunity to spend some social time with another driver. Gain new skills, make new friends, better mental and physical health, improve your confidence, give something to the community.
You will liaise with our bus manager who will support you in your role. Working together you will ensure the safety of our two minibuses and their passengers and the competency of the volunteer drivers.
