The kitchen team leader will need to complete a Food Safety Level 2 course. Others in the kitchen team are welcome to complete this course. This training is available for free if required.
Those volunteering with us while children are present will need a relevant DBS certificate and will need to complete the Methodist Church’s Foundation Safeguarding course.
We will also provide a short training session about Make Lunch for all new volunteers.

Knowing that you are supporting families, who may find providing food and social experiences during the school holidays when families most need access to these.
Meeting new people, becoming a part of a great team of volunteers and getting to know children and their families.

Other Information

Make Lunch usually runs in-person sessions 8 times a year during school holidays. Volunteers for these are usually needed between 10am and 2pm, although those taking a leadership role may be needed for longer. Those delivering are usually needed for around 1 hour.

Although Make Lunch is run by a church, our activities at Make Lunch are non-faith based. Volunteers are invited to pray as part of our team ahead of Make Lunch sessions and families involved are invited to other church activities for children and families.
