Maintenance Volunteer

The Fells is a service within the charity Changing Lives which support individuals with housing needs. We need a volunteer to provide help around minor repairs and maintenance

Responsibilities

• Basic decorating
• Minor repairs (assembling flat pack furniture, hanging pictures, filling small holes etc.)
• Fixing furniture
• Odd jobs around the building and garden
• Simple everyday DIY tasks (like changing light bulbs, fixing a leaky tap)
• Showing individuals how to repair and maintain their own property

Skills & Qualities

• Knowledge or experience of trade or building work: painting, joinery and carpentry etc. is desirable
• Basic DIY
• Basic health and safety awareness
• Friendly and reliable
• Fit and active
• Able to work unsupervised or as part of a team
• Open-minded and committed
• Good sense of humour

When & Where?

Flexible hours per week to meet the needs of the project. The Fells, Great North Road, Chester-Le-Street, DH2 3NL

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

You will make a difference (directly or indirectly) to the people we work with. You will benefit from helping or supporting other people, using existing or learning new skills, gaining confidence, being creative, responding to challenges, and being with other people.
Travel expenses, teas, coffees are also provided.
