Volunteering from Home

We are looking for a volunteer to become a Magazine Editor for our weekly recordings. This is an ideal role for someone wanting to do to voluntary work from home.

Responsibilities

You will select a number of magazine articles from a variety of sources which will be of interest to our listeners. Please listen to our recordings to hear the sort of articles we use.

Skills & Qualities

You must be reliable, organised, have good communication skills and good written English.

Home internet access and a PC are very helpful.

When & Where?

The articles must arrive at the office either by email or hard copy by 9.30am each Wednesday. They will be read and recorded that afternoon/ evening. Editors currently work a 5 week rota.

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

Full training will be given.

The Darlington & District Talking Newspaper (DDTN) is a charity providing local news and general information to people who are unable to read a newspaper for themselves, either because of visual impairment or another disability.

Every Wednesday we record the local news and other information of interest to our listeners. On Thursday CDs or memory sticks are sent to our listeners and recordings are uploaded to our website darlingtontalkingnewspaper.uk and the British Wireless for the Blind Funds' smartphone app.
