Supporting the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Community in North Durham, providing information, services (eg. exercise classes) , social activities etc.
As the Group Coordinator, you‘ll take the lead in making sure the local group of volunteers works as effectively as possible. You'll recruit and support other group volunteers as together you meet the needs of the local MS Community.
You will act as a key contact between MS Society support staff and volunteers and ensure that the group's programme is delivered in line with the MS Society's principles of quality service delivery so that it is safe, effective and impactful.
You will also lead the group’s shared responsibility for planning and reporting expenditure and income, and, with the Finance Volunteer, ensure that financial policies are followed.
You will be:
- Enthusiastic about supporting the MS Community in North Durham
- Willing to ask and understand what people affected by MS need and want
- Able to lead or learn to lead a small team, taking a supporting and coaching approach with other volunteers
- Able to keep people's personal data safe (training given)
- Able to understand and follow MS Society policies & procedures (training given)
- Confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email
This is a flexible role, and mostly you will volunteer at times which suit you.
This role is supported by MS Society staff, and there is extensive training available from the MS Society.
All expenses incurred on MS Society business will be reimbursed.

This role will largely be conducted from home, but there will be occasional visits to activities, events and meetings in the North Durham area.
