Fringe Festival Volunteer

Durham City

Would you like to be involved in one of the North East’s most exciting arts festivals?

Durham Fringe Festival returns July 24th – 28th, and is seeking volunteers to help make the festival a success again this year.

This year will be our fourth festival and it will run for five days in total. We’ve got around 90 different shows and almost 250 performances on eight stages across seven venues. There literally is something for everyone, and you can enjoy comedy, magic, family shows, theatre and music. This year, with the support of partners including Dance City, the festival has an additional focus on movement and dance, which will be presented in the Fonteyn Ballroom in Dunelm House.

Responsibilities

The activities we will always need assistance with include welcoming visitors to Durham, working front of house in a venue, welcoming audiences, selling tickets and merchandise, showing people to their seats and getting ready for the next show, helping production staff, distributing flyers and marketing materials, supporting artists and performers

Shift patterns to be negotiated - please indicate your availability in the application form. We require a minimum commitment of two shifts. Shift lengths vary, and are generally a minimum of five hours.

Skills & Qualities

Previous experience is not essential – but a passion for the performing arts is! All volunteers receive a pass which gives them access to the shows.

We do accept volunteers who are under 16 but they would need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.

When & Where?

There will be a choice of two volunteer briefing sessions, both taking place at Fabios, Saddler Street, Durham City.

Wednesday 26 June, 5 - 7pm
Saturday 29 June, 11am - 1pm

Please apply via the application form on the Festival website: https://form.jotform.com/form/231414400926346

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

We would like the opportunity to be accessible to people from across County Durham, and have secured funding to enable us to offer expenses payments of up to £10 per day, to cover travel and subsistence.

Volunteer Benefits

To say a big thank you from the festival, all volunteers are given a pass, so you will be able to experience the festival shows for free (subject to ticket availability on the day).
