Event Support Volunteer

By volunteering in this role you will be able to support Family Action when we host events or group activities for young people and families. Being able to help at busy times will help to bring more young carers and families together, so that they can take part in new experiences and activities, improving their wellbeing. This role is suitable for volunteers who can’t commit time regularly but would like to volunteer with us when extra help is most needed.

Responsibilities

The opportunity to help out with:
 Holiday Hub – school holiday family activity groups
 Support young carers in 5 forum events that are organised throughout the year
 Help to transport young carers to forum events
 Support with the organisation of events

Skills & Qualities

 Have experience of, or enjoy, working with young people and families
 Are enthusiastic, positive and supportive
 Can demonstrate commitment, reliability and consistency
 Are good communicators and relationship builders
 Have their own transport and would like to use it for transport, however this isn’t essential
 Are willing to gain an understanding (appropriate to your role) of, and comply with, all relevant Family Action Policies and procedures

Opportunities may be in different locations across County Durham. Our office base is in Bishop Auckland.

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

 Training will be fully provided.
 Travel expenses
 Regular supervision
 Full DBS check
 Travel expenses will be subsidised

Other Information

 Although we don’t require a minimum number of hours that you will have to volunteer each week, we do ask that you are reliable and let us know in advance when you can help
 You will need to provide two references and have a full DBS check
