St Pauls Centre is a busy community building in Spennymoor, County Durham and is the home to many community groups including, a Foodbank, Parents & Toddlers group, Guides, Computers in the Community, Men’s welfare group, A tea dance group, Photography group, Art group, Badminton group and a scratch orchestra.
The centre is also widely used by commercial and public service groups including the NHS and Durham County Council, as a meeting venue and training centre. Two social enterprises are based in the Centre, a community café and a sound & lighting company aiding building sustainability.

Our Directors are committed to supporting the needs of our wider community, including those disadvantaged by such as unemployment, social isolation, anxiety or depression.

Responsibilities

The duties of the director include:
• determining the long-term direction of the charity
• implementing policies and activities to further the charity’s objectives
• complying with legal and regulatory requirements
• ensuring the financial stability of the organisation
• promoting the organisation

In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

Skills & Qualities

We would welcome applications from anyone who is looking to help us achieve our charitable objectives and move the organisation forward but would particularly welcome applications from people who have skills in the following areas:

Business experience
HR
Finance
An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship
An ability to work effectively as a member of a team
