Co-Ordinator Friends Of the Museum

Responsible for the organisation and management of the 'Friends of the Museum' group. These are supporters who pay an annual subscription and get free entry and receive regular newsletters.
The Co-ordinator will research similar groups and put forward a plan to update the current group to meet future needs, this includes rules for the group.
They will keep a register of all 'Friends' and update as necessary in line with data protection regulations.
A large part of the role will be recruitment of new 'Friends' to help to support the work of the museum.

Responsibilities

The Co-Ordinator will work closely with other volunteers in developing the friends group, bringing it up to date and helping it to meet the requirements of the museum.
Along with colleagues, they will also be responsible for the production of a regular newsletter.

Skills & Qualities

There are no educational or professional qualifications required for this role.
Experience of running a similar group would be an advantage.
The volunteer must be a good commutator, and must be at ease managing people and working with others.
Experience of using social media would be useful.
Experience of word processing and use of spreadsheets would be useful.
Internet access is essential

Training as necessary in relation to the running of the organisation.
Support from the group of trustees.
Ability to drive would be useful.

Volunteer Benefits

The museum is run entirely by volunteers who have the benefit of working together to preserve and protect the history and heritage of the area.
We work closely and the group is very friendly.

Other Information

Minimum age 18.
Most work can be done from home with access to internet/email.
Currently the museum is not fully accessible to some people with disabilities (staircase) but visiting the building is not essential at this stage.
