The purpose of volunteering at the DCP Community Shop is to help make a positive difference in the local community by supporting the overall running of the shop. The money raised through the shop helps fund the work of Durham Christian Partnership as a whole, including the vital services provided by County Durham and Sunderland Foodbank. By volunteering, you are helping to support local people and families in need, while being part of a friendly team and contributing to a cause that makes a real difference in the community.

Responsibilities

As a volunteer at the DCP Community Shop, you would help sort and organise donations, check and prepare items for sale, arrange displays, replenish stock, serve customers and keep the shop tidy and welcoming. You’ll work alongside the team to help the shop run smoothly and create a friendly, welcoming environment for everyone.

Skills & Qualities

No previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to help and a positive attitude. We’re looking for friendly, reliable and approachable volunteers who enjoy working as part of a team. Good communication skills, a helpful attitude and a willingness to get involved with a variety of tasks are important.

When & Where?

Our Community Shop is located at 11–12 Front Street, Durham, DH1 5EJ, and is open Monday to Friday, 9:30am–4:30pm.

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

Ongoing training and support is given and out of pocket expenses are available.
