Chair and Deputy Chair

To lead, motivate, and support the local volunteer Committee in developing, delivering, and monitoring a yearly local strategy that aligns with Crimestoppers’ vision, mission, and organisational priorities.
The role also supports clear communication locally and nationally, promoting collaboration with partners to strengthen Crimestoppers’ presence in the community.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the local volunteer Committee and ensure actions are completed on time.
• Lead the development, implementation, and annual review of the local strategy.
• Work with Police, Community Safety Partnerships, and community organisations to plan and deliver campaigns and events.
• Recruit, support, and retain volunteer members to ensure the Committee is effective and well-resourced.
• Identify volunteer skills, encourage skill sharing, and support personal development.
• Create an inclusive and collaborative team environment.
• Maintain clear and regular communication with the Regional Manager, National Volunteer Manager, and Volunteer Management Team.
• Deputy Chair: assume full leadership responsibilities when required.

• Experience leading teams, meetings, or projects
• Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and external partners
• Ability to support and motivate volunteers from diverse backgrounds
• Understanding of the local geographic area and community needs
• Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of Crimestoppers’ strategies and plans

When & Where?

The Committee covers the whole of County Durham . The Deputy Chair will assist the Chair in various events held across the area (usually on a weekend). Quarterly committee meetings are held online, with a December meeting in person.

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

You will receive full training for the role, along with ongoing support, guidance, and advice from:
• The Regional Manager
• The National Volunteer Manager
• The Volunteer Management Team
Reasonable out of pocket expenses incurred during volunteering will be reimbursed.
