To work alongside our Kitchen Supervisor and other volunteers to help prepare and bake fresh cakes, brownies, scones, pies, soups etc.. to be served in our on site café ("The Old School Café"). All money raised in our Café then helps support our Mental Health Charity. You will be working with, or around vulnerable adults who are struggling with their mental health, therefore we only accept those 18 and over.
- Chopping/Preparing food
- Baking/Piping/Decorating fresh sweet items
- Making pastry for our pies
- Cooking pre-made items in the oven
- Making soups
- Recording Temperature checks
- Regular cleaning throughout the day
- Quality control
- Stock rotation
- Recording stock
- Food Hygiene is essential but we will offer further training.
- Allergen awareness certificate, this will be offered and can be done remotely through online training in your own time
- Baking skills preferred but not essential as training and support will be offered through our supervisor
- Friendly and enthusiastic with good interpersonal skills
- Eager to learn new skills and try new things
- Willingness to work as a team
- Able to work independently whilst using own initiative
- Good time keeping skills
- Ability to read recipes and understand weights and measurements
We are currently looking for Volunteers to work one day a week, on either Tuesdays or Thursdays 9.30am - 2pm.
- We will offer Basic Food hygiene training. We can offer Level 2 Food hygiene upon request.
- Food Allergy training will be offered and a certificate will be given upon completion.
- We can offer free Safeguarding Vulnerable adults training upon request.
- Café Volunteers that work 4 hours or more will receive a free lunch from our regular menu (not including cold beverages).
- Free training offered and extra training opportunities upon request.
- Bus fares/train fares will be reimbursed upon receival of your receipt.
- Petrol/diesel will be reimbursed at 34p per mile up to a maximum of £10 a day.

Volunteers play a vital role here at St Margaret’s Centre. As a small charity with only seven members of staff, there are certain aspects of our service that simply wouldn’t be able to run without the support of people who are kind enough to donate their time and expertise.
