Volunteer Receptionist

The Four Clocks Community Resource Centre is looking or a volunteer receptionist for one or two days per week. The Centre houses a mixture of tenants such as Citizens Advice Co. Durham, Durham Works, Princes trust, and a Café, plus a number of rooms hired out by the hour for meetings.


The role is to work on the reception desk, answering queries form personal callers or on the telephone, directing them to the appropriate room(s) or services, and operate our computer room booking system. Plus some minor administrative tasks.

Skills & Qualities

Previous experience dealing with the public would be an advantage, but a pleasant welcoming manner would be a bonus! As would some computer skills for our room booking system and for emails.

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

Travelling expenses, DBS check, full training from our part-time receptionist and Centre Co-ordinator.

We are open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am, though a receptionist would usually start at 8.30 am, through to 4.30 pm. Most likely days at present would be Wednesday and Friday; and cover for annual or sickness leave if necessary.
