To ensure the smooth running of the office allowing volunteer drivers to collect and return paperwork and bus keys as required. This ensures that the buses are available when required and our role as a community transport organisation continues.


Daily Tasks Office Volunteer with Shildon Community Bus
The main duties of an office volunteer are listed below. Further tasks may be required and if so, training will be provided.

• Opening up the office
• Telephone
• Daybook and Diary
• Handling Cash and giving receipts
• Emails
• Visitors - Greet clients and deal with enquiries
• Filing

Skills & Qualities

Be able to use email, word, excel spreadsheets, internet. Basic skills required. Needs to be literate and numerate.
Reliable – we are a very small team and rely on people to turn up when asked.

Some experience of face to face contact with the public and a good telephone manner.

Bus Office, Methodist Church Hall, Main Street, Shildon, DL4 1AH

Training and Support Offered/Expenses

We would prefer a local person, but the payment of travel expenses will be considered on an individual basis.
DBS not required for this role. Any training required to fulfil the role will be sourced and funded at the discretion of the Trustees.

Other Information

No maximum age, minimum age 18. You will need to be able to travel into the office in Shildon. Parking is available. The premises are accessible for people with disabilities. We are open to the public five half days a week 9.30am until 12.00 noon.
